ROB MCCLENDON:  WELL MOVING NOW FROM FINDING THE NATURAL GAS TO GETTING IT INTO OUR HOMES.  OKLAHOMA NATURAL GAS COMPANY IS THE CORNERSTONE OF ONE OF OKLAHOMA’S OLDEST CORPORATIONS, AND ALWAYS TRYING TO STAY ON THE CUTTING EDGE.  JOINING ME NOW WITH MORE IS OUR COURTENAY DEHOFF.

COURTENAY DEHOFF:  WELL SERVING MORE THAN 829,000 OKLAHOMANS, OKLAHOMA NATURAL GAS, OR O-N-G, PRIDES ITSELF ON BEING A GOOD CORPORATE NEIGHBOR AND A THOUGHTFUL EMPLOYER.

TRAINING INSTRUCTOR:  YOU’VE GOTTA WEAR THIS THING ALL DAY, SO BOY THEY CAN…

COURTENAY:  THEY’RE GEARING UP, AND STRAPPING DOWN FOR A DAY DEDICATED TO SAFETY.

SCOTT SHEPHERD:  WELL WE’RE HAVING SAFETY DAYS AND THE REASON WE’RE DOING THAT IS THAT SAFETY IS A REALLY IMPORTANT PART OF WHAT WE DO AS A COMPANY.  THE NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES WE HAVE AND THE AMOUNT OF CONTACT WE HAVE WITH THE PUBLIC, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR EMPLOYEES ARE SAFE AND WE’RE KEEPING THE PUBLIC SAFE.

INSTRUCTOR:  WE CAN TAKE OUR TIME TO DO THINGS THE RIGHT WAY; WE DO NOT HAVE TO COMPROMISE LIKE THAT.  IT MAY TAKE A LITTLE LONGER…

COURTENAY:  SCOTT SHEPHERD IS THE REGIONAL VICE-PRESIDENT OF OKLAHOMA NATURAL GAS.

SHEPHERD:  OKLAHOMA NATURAL GAS IS A, IS A COMPANY OF ONE-OK.  WE OPERATE IN OKLAHOMA; WE SERVE ABOUT 850,000 CUSTOMERS RUNNING FROM WOODWARD TO IDABELL, FROM ALTUS, OR ALMOST TO ALTUS, UP TO MIAMI.  SO, WE COVER THE WHOLE STATE, MOST OF THE STATE, AND WE ARE A GAS DISTRIBUTION COMPANY; SO, WE’RE YOUR LOCAL GAS COMPANY TO MOST FOLKS.

COURTENAY:  BUT TODAY, THEY’RE DROPPING IN FOR A LITTLE SAFETY TRAINING AT ONE-OK IN TULSA.

SHEPHERD:  WE’RE SPENDING A DAY GOING THROUGH A VARIETY OF WORKSHOPS, TRYING TO MAKE ‘EM INTERESTING, TRYING TO MAKE ‘EM FUN, AND HELP INFLUENCE PEOPLE’S BEHAVIOR.

[EMERGENGY SIRENS]

COURTENAY:  BEHAVIOR THAT COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH.

SHEPHERD:  A COUPLE THINGS WE’RE TRYING TO DO IS INFLUENCE EMPLOYEE’S BEHAVIOR BY MAKING SURE THEY HAVE THE WILL, THE KNOWLEDGE, AND THE TOOLS TO BE SAFE.  SO, SOME OF THE TOPICS ARE SPECIFIC TECHNIQUES TO BE SAFE, LIKE EXCAVATION TECHNIQUE.   WE ALSO HAVE A WORKSHOP ON WHY WE WANT TO BE SAFE; WHAT’S THE MOTIVATION FOR WANTING TO BE SAFE?  WE HAVE HEALTH SCREENING WHICH IS, YOU KNOW, PERSONAL HEALTH SCREENINGS THAT HELP PEOPLE BE MORE HEALTHY.  WE ALSO HAVE A COUPLE SESSIONS ON DRIVING; SINCE WE DRIVE 15 MILLION MILES A YEAR OUT ON THE ROADS, AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR PEOPLE ARE DRIVING THE BEST THAT THEY CAN.

COURTENAY:  BUT THE REAL DRIVING FORCE IS SAFETY IN THE LONG RUN.

SHEPHERD:  WE’RE HOPEFUL THAT IT WILL DRIVE BEHAVIOR.  IT’S ONE THING TO HAVE PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT ATTITUDE, BUT WE WANT TO SEE THEM EXECUTE ON THAT ATTITUDE AND, AND USE THE KNOWLEDGE AND USE THE TOOLS THAT THEY’VE GOT AVAILABLE, TO TAKE THE TIME TO BE SAFE.  WE OFTEN TALK ABOUT SAFETY BEING A COMMITMENT THAT A PERSON END THE DAY IN THE SAME CONDITION THAT THEY START THE DAY.  I LIKE TO EXTEND IT A LITTLE FURTHER, THAT WE’D LIKE THEM TO END THEIR CAREER IN THE SAME CONDITION THEY START THEIR CAREER.

COURTENAY:  IT IS DEFINITELY A CAREER DEPENDENT ON SAFETY.

ROB:  SO YOU WHERE THERE, HOW DID EVERYTHING GO?

COURTENAY:  WELL ROB, THIS WAS A MASSIVE KICKOFF FOR THE 2011 YEAR AND IT’S THE ONLY TIME THAT ALL THE EMPLOYEES FROM DIFFERENT REGIONS CAN ACTUALLY GET TOGETHER.  SO, ONG HOPES TO SEE IT BIGGER AND BETTER NEXT YEAR.

ROB:  ALRIGHT, THANKS SO MUCH COURT.
