ROB MCCLENDON:  WELL WITH 1 IN 10 OKLAHOMA JOBS CONNECTED TO AEROSPACE, IT’S AN INDUSTRY THAT IS AN ECONOMIC ENGINE FOR THE ENTIRE STATE, INCLUDING RURAL OKLAHOMA.  HERE’S OUR COURTENAY DEHOFF.

COURTENAY DEHOFF:  IN 1999, STROUD, OKLAHOMA, WAS WIPED OUT BY A DEVISTATING F-2 TORNADO.  TODAY, YEARS LATER, THE TOWN’S INFRASTRUCTURE IS STARTING TO REBOUND.  AND, THE AEROSPACE COMPANY MINT TURBINES, IS AT THE FOREFRONT OF EXPANSION.

IT MAY LOOK LIKE A SIMPLE DISK…

DANNY HICKMAN:  A DISK LIKE THIS CAN RUN ANYWHERE FROM $40,000 TO $60,000.

COURTENAY:  A SMALL DISK THAT PLAYS A BIG PART AT MINT TURBINES IN STROUD, OKLAHOMA, AN ENGINE OVERHUAL BUSINESS THAT IS UNDERGOING MAJOR EXPANSION.

DANNY:  WHAT YOU’RE SEEING BEHIND ME IS OUR NEW HOME; 41,000 SQUARE FEET.

COURTENAY:  DANNY HICKMAN IS THE DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT.

DANNY:  WITH THE HELP OF THE LEADERS OF STROUD, CENTRAL TECH, AND THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA, A VISION IS COMING TO FRUITION.  THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE FOR MINT TURBINES, LLC, THE NEW OWNERSHIP, WOULD LIKE TO PROMOTE A SIGNAL TO PROPEL AN OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO MAINTAIN A LEANER, CLEANER OPERATION.  EVERYTHING WILL BE DONE IN-HOUSE, UNDER ONE ROOF.  WE’VE COMBINED THE SAME SKILL SET, THE SAME FUNCTIONS, AND PUT IT UNDER ONE ROOF; MAKING US MORE EFFICIENT, A CLEANER ENVIRONMENT TO WORK IN FOR OUR EMPLOYEES, PROVIDE A BETTER SERVICE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS.

COURTENAY:  THROUGH EXPANSION THEY’RE HOPING TO DO JUST THAT; CEO RICHARD MCCANN.

RICHARD MCCANN:  THE SCOPE OF THE BUSINESS IS TO BUILD THE BEST ENGINE OVERHAUL FACILITY IN THE WORLD.  AND WE WILL, AS WE CONTINUE TO DO WELL AND ESTABLISH CUSTOMERS, AND HOPEFULLY FLEETS OF AIRCRAFT, WE’LL EXPAND IT AND CONTINUE TO EXPAND.  WE BUILT THIS FACILITY SO IT CAN HANDLE SUBSTANTIAL EXPANSION; SO, WE ARE VERY OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THE FUTURE.

COURTENAY:  A FUTURE THAT PROMISES BIG THINGS FOR THE SMALL COMMUNITY.

RICHARD:  I THINK IT WILL HAVE A TREMENDOUS IMPACT ON STROUD.  THESE ARE VERY HIGH PAYING, SKILLED JOBS.  THESE ARE JOBS THAT EVEN CHILDREN THAT GROW UP HERE AND GO TO SCHOOL MIGHT BE ENCOURAGED TO GO ON TO COLLEGE, UNIVERSITIES WITH AVIATION TYPE TRAINING, AND THEY KNOW JOBS THEY CAN FALL BACK ON HERE.  BUT THEY’RE HIGH PAYING ENOUGH, THAT THE PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY WILL MAKE THAT KIND OF MONEY THAT THEY CAN DRIVE A BETTER CAR, THEY CAN PROVIDE FOR THEIR FAMLY BETTER, THEY CAN SEND THEIR KIDS ONTO SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES.  SO, I THINK THAT’S ONE OF THE BIG BENEFITS OF WHAT WE’VE PUT TOGETHER HERE.

[SOUND OF POWER TOOLS]

COURTENAY:  SCREWING IN THE PIECES THAT WILL BRING BIG BENEFITS, A LITTLE EXPANSION AT A TIME.

[APPLAUSE]

COURTENAY:  MINT TURBINES PLANS TO ADD 35 EMPLOYEES AND INVEST 1.1 MILLION DOLLARS IN CAPITAL EQUIPMENT FOR ITS NEWLY EXPANDED FACILITY.
