Rob McClendon is the host and executive producer of "Oklahoma Horizon" and has covered Oklahoma's economy for more than 20 years. He says he strives to give viewers context to the changes in their world. “We go behind the headlines and try to offer intimate stories on people and places who illustrate the bigger picture," he says.
Rob is an award-winning journalist who loves to tell stories that affect people’s lives. “We focus on complex issues and search for opportunities to guide events rather than be reactive to them," he explains.
While at "Oklahoma Horizon," he has won awards for coverage of environmental issues, early childhood development and international trade.
In addition to reporting, he enjoys mentoring young journalists. “I take pride in developing storytellers who go on to great and varied careers," he says.
Before launching "Oklahoma Horizon," Rob worked as a television news anchor for CBS and ABC affiliates and Oklahoma State University. In addition to his communication work, he has broad experience in business, government affairs and academia. He also started an LP-TV station that serves north central Oklahoma with original programming.
Rob believes in giving back to his community. He is an active Rotarian and participates in numerous mentorship programs. He enjoys sports and loves active vacations even when his beat-up old knees don’t.
He is a proud graduate of Baylor University and is thoroughly enjoying BU football’s resurgence. Sic’em, Bears!
