Rob: And joining me now is our Russ Jowell. Well, how can someone join a food co-op? Russ: Well, Rob, it’s really easy. All you do is go to their web site, OklahomaFood.coop. There’s a little membership form you fill out. You have to be a resident of Oklahoma; and it is a co-op so you do have to buy in a share of, it’s about 50 dollars per year. And after you do that, you are allowed at the beginning of every month to purchase items from a variety of producers from around the state. You can order until the second Thursday of every month, and then on the third Thursday, you get to pick your order up. Rob: Well, no doubt you’re getting the most fresh food that you can, but is it more expensive? Russ: It really isn’t. You do have to pay an annual fee, but you are buying directly from the producer unlike a grocery store that buys the food and then resells it. You are buying directly from the producer and because all those producers are right here in Oklahoma, you’re also saving on the transportation costs. Rob: Which is certainly an important point to make; well, Russ, good story, thank you. Russ: Thank you.
